Cultural identity and belonging

Belonging can become complicated when different parts of who you are seem to pull in different directions. You may feel close to your family, culture or faith while also finding that some expectations leave little room for your own needs. You might move between communities and feel understood in neither, or find yourself explaining parts of your experience that others take for granted.

Experiences of migration, racism, family roles and intergenerational expectations can shape how you see yourself and your relationships. Sometimes the difficulty is hard to name. You may simply notice that you feel caught between loyalty to others and being yourself.

Therapy offers time to explore what your identity and sense of belonging mean to you. We can be curious about the experiences that have shaped you, the pressures you carry and what you want to hold on to or change. You do not need to have a clear answer before we begin.

I offer online therapy for adults across the UK. If you would like to explore working together, you can contact me to arrange a free introductory conversation.
